KIPO (Commissioner: JUN, Sang Woo) announced that KIPONet has received Level 4
CMMI?? Certification, the first such certification among governmental agencies.
CMMI?? is an international quality measurement for IT industries.
Developed by SEI (Software Engineering Institute at Carnegie-Mellon
University) in the United States, CMMI?? (Capability Maturity Model Integration)
is a certified international index that assesses not only the quality of
software, but also the overall system including the maturity of processes and
capability of project execution. Based on the level of maturity, CMMI??
certification is classified and assessed at 5 levels. In Korea, there are only
about 10 agencies (including commercial companies) that have received Level 4
Certification or better. CMMI?? is a distinctive certification.
During
the past 2 years, KIPO has made continuous improvements on KIPONet based on
internationally standardized processes. As a result, KIPO received Level 4
CMMI?? Certification from SEI.
As the first governmental agency to
receive Level 4 CMMI Certification, KIPO once again proved itself a leader in
the IT field. In addition, KIPONet won international acknowledgement for being a
global system with high quality standards. This acknowledgement is expected to
contribute greatly to exporting KIPONet in the future.
Mr. KIM, Sung
Hwan, the Director General of the Information Policy Bureau, KIPO, commented,
“We will not praise ourselves for receiving this Level 4 CMMI?? Certification,
but will continue to improve the process to receive Level 5 CMMI?? Certification
by 2008. KIPONet has high quality and stability. We will do our best to impress
all of our customers.”
